Serge Matta was a fashion designer in Paris, France. Matta was the brother of surrealist painter Roberto Matta. He worked for Eliza Schiaparelli, the perfumes of Helena Rubinstein and the designer Jacques Fath and Charles Jourdan on promotional pieces.
His main body of work comes from the 1960’s and 70’s, when he designed fashionable wear. His favorite medium was a feather and black Indian ink. During this period he worked with his friend Elsa Shiaparelli, Lucien Lelong, Lily Dache and Elisabeth Arden.
These are some of this designer’s original one of a kind fashion sketches for a collection.
Fashion sketching is the foundation for designing and styling clothing.
Fashion designing in the 1960's was dominated by the young, which had never been the case before. New and radical fashion styles were created, and the little girl androgynous look for women, typified by Twiggy replaced the sweater girls of the early 60's.
