This vintage drawing is an original fashion sketch from the Balmain fashion house of Paris. Pierre Balmain (1914-1982) was a French fashion designer who opened his own fashion house in France in 1945.
Balmain established the trend of small waists with long bell-shaped skirts which Christian Dior adopted as Dior's New Look. Balmain's designs won many haute couture awards. He designed the warbrobes for many actresses. Today his vintage couture remains very chic and is sought after by the internatioinal jet set and movie stars.
The sketches are on white paper and are sometimes a bit wrinkled, which is to be expected. The sketches are very popular and look great in a grouping.
